Paul Fuener

Interim Rector

Paul retired in April, 2016, after serving for over 16 years as rector of Prince George Church in Georgetown, SC. Before that, he had been an assistant rector for four years at St. Stephen’s Church in Sewickley, PA, after receiving his M.Div. in 1996 from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry. Paul was ordained to the priesthood that same year. Prior to seminary, Paul had been a government contracts attorney with a law firm in Washington, D.C. for 17 years, and before law school, Paul served two years in the Army as a military policeman. He has a B.A. from the University of Michigan (1971), and a J.D. from The George Washington University Law School (1976). He and Becky have been married for 51 years; they have two grown children and six grandchildren. In this diocese Paul has served on the Board of Trustees, the Ecclesiastical Court, the search committee for bishop (Bp. Lawrence), the Anglican Communion Development Committee, the Standing Committee (President 2011-2013); dean of the Georgetown Deanery, and as a spiritual advisor on a Cursillo team. Since his retirement in 2016, he has served as interim rector at All Saints, Florence (9 months); Priest in Charge at St. John’s Church in Florence (4 months); interim rector at Trinity Church, Myrtle Beach (14 months); interim rector at Church of the Holy Comforter, Sumter (11 months); and Priest in Charge at St. Paul’s Conway (3 months).
