This role is focused on connecting people both existing and new to the church by welcoming them, introducing them to Life Groups, or connecting them into a serving team. Also, this role is key in making sure that events are planned with room reservations, calendar events, and that those events are executed well with the highest level of quality, i.e. room layout, food, drinks and resources.

This position reports to the Rector and is 20 hours a week, in-person at our Sullivan's Island campus. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Attendance: Collect sign-in sheets from all services and record attendance weekly in Rock’s attendance metrics.

Connections: Tend to all incoming Connection requests and follow-up with those either by email or phone call. Assign any that need clergy follow-up or other coordination. These connections would include baptisms, letter transfers, confirmations, 1st time visitors, etc.

Life Groups: Assist clergy with events like Growing Leaders, Celebrations, kick offs, trainings; record keeping (including new ways to do things in Rock), communication with leaders, communication with people looking for a Life Group.

Membership: Greet visitors in person and through email, track visitors and attendees, Discovering Membership invites, events and new member form follow-up, Newcomers dinners, new member and transfer paperwork, baptism coordinator. Add new members/visitors from the new member form or welcome card.

Prayer List: Maintain prayer list in Rock making sure all are current and being prayed for. Coordinate the prayer team and assign prayer requests with those on the team. Also, manage Sunday’s prayer sheet for clergy for services.

Pastoral Care: Manage Pastoral Care in the Rock module to ensure care items are entered, approved and assigned to clergy. Make sure that people are cared for and properly closed out or followed up with.

Administration: Answer phone, greet visitors at doors as well as deliveries, keep up staff calendar, tasks for clergy, answer info emails, communion, birthday and other staff celebrations. Maintain entries in books for funerals, weddings, baptisms and confirmations; also, add into Rock profile. Gather names for confirmation from Student Ministers and send names to the Diocese. After confirmation when the Bishop visits have the names recorded in the confirmation book and have Rector and Bishop sign. Also, record confirmation date in Rock profile.

Weddings: Assist with weddings as a church wedding coordinator.

Printing needs including bulletins, special pieces, and mass mailings.

Praise Team Leader

Reports to: Worship Director 

Full-Time: 5-10 hours per week


Responsibilities:

The Praise Team Leader is responsible for preparing and leading the praise team in worship on Sunday mornings. This position calls for a creative and collaborative approach to our common worship which is committed to glorifying Christ through music and songs that represent an appreciation for the beauty and diversity of modern and ancient worship. 


The Praise Team Leader is expected to: 

Become a member of Holy Cross

Regularly pray for the church, it’s mission and it’s leadership

Build, shape and grow a worship ministry that flows from and furthers the broader mission and vision of Holy Cross

Prayerfully plan and lead the praise team under the leadership of the Worship Director

Select songs that are faithful to the Gospel, orthodox and in keeping with the theological convictions of Holy Cross

Lead weekly praise team rehearsals


Position: Church Organist/Pianist for Church of the Holy Cross

Reports to: Worship Director

Status: Part-time


OVERVIEW:

The main focus of this job is to serve as a church organist and choir accompanist for the Sunday morning service.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Weekly:

  • Read and know the details of the monthly and weekly service plans.
  • Select and play an organ prelude, hymns, offertory, and postlude for the Sunday services. Communicate selection titles to the worship director via email by 8:00 AM Thursday mornings.
  • Prepare and play assigned church hymns on organ during services. The director of worship will select and communicate hymns in advance.
  • Accompany the choir on piano during Wednesday night rehearsals. Choral anthems will be selected by the Director of Worship and communicated in advance.
  • Assist in warming the choir up before Sunday services by reporting to choir room or Sanctuary on Sunday morning with all of needed materials for the day.
  • Having all musical material prepared in advance of each rehearsal/performance.
  • Practice Time: The accompanist should have spent the time needed to practice all music to a high level of accuracy. (hymns, service music, anthems accompaniments and open score)

Occasionally:      

  • Accompany and rehearse with soloists. Some soloists will need a little help reading/learning the music.
  • Prepare and play additional services throughout the year.
  • Christmas Eve – 3 services are typically planned.. The organist plays for the 7:00 and 11:00 PM services.
  • Easter – extra musical performances on Palm Sunday and Easter. Easter morning has 3 services that Sunday morning. 
  • There are also additional services that take place each year. Examples possibly include Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and more. Additional services change from year to year, flexibility is needed with these.
  • At Organist’s discretion, play for Weddings. Weddings do earn an additional fee.
  • Funerals occasionally have the need of the organist. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A 4-year degree or higher in music is given preference.
  • Excellent piano playing skills as demonstrated for hiring audition.
  • Organ performance skills are preferred, but not required.
  • 5 years working in church music settings.
  • Christian faith. 

SKILLS:

  • This position requires approximately 10-15 hours a week. Time involvement varies greatly throughout the year and is largely dependent on how quickly you learn to play piano music. Independent playing practice is huge portion of this position.

Position Title: Children’s Ministry Director 

Position Type: Full-time with benefits

Salary Range: 50-60k + benefits

Reports to: Rector/Lead Pastor


Responsibilities: This is an exciting opportunity to help lead and cast vision for a Gospel-centered, biblically based approach to the discipleship of our children, infants to 5th grade. Specifically, this person would be responsible for:


Administration

Coordinating Sunday mornings and special events.

Manage children’s ministry team volunteers by recruiting, training, scheduling, and leading them.

Partner with and support parents in family discipleship efforts 

Communicate with families through email, text messaging, and social media.

Maintain safety and security protocols for children’s and youth ministry.

Assist with budgeting and scheduling.

Attend Tuesday morning staff meetings and meet with the Rector for an hour each week.

Special Events

Organize and oversee church-wide special events for children, including Vacation Bible School and holiday events.

Relational

Becoming a member of Holy Cross

Develop relationships with children and youth families in the church.

Maintain a strategy for reaching and assimilating new children and youth.

Creative

Create environments, activities, and programming for each age group that will holistically facilitate and encourage spiritual growth from infancy to high school graduation.
